I've been lucky enough to work as a designer and art director for over 20 years. My experience has been primarily with illustrated books, and along the way I have recruited and worked with a community of freelance designers, photographers and illustrators and have enjoyed the process immensely. I've always loved the printed word, and I give each line and paragraph my full devotion, whether they'll land on newsprint (like the ads I laid out in my first job) or Mohawk Superfine (a favorite while I ran my own letterpress studio in Hoboken, NJ). Like one of my heroes, type and graphic designer W.A. Dwiggins, I aim to produce designs that hold and reveal their contents like a crystal goblet.
I have an extremely flexible style and I've enjoyed collaborating on projects including catalogues and monographs, branding, product and exhibit graphics, as well as many trade books.
With an overall ethos of quality and attention to detail, I aspire to create work that is thoughtful, functional and beautiful.
I am always looking forward to the next opportunity to collaborate or just to say hello!
